I LOVE LOVE LOVE my calling and I love the Wizard of OZ. When I was in snowflake, the community did the broadway version of the Wizard of Oz, and I was Dorothy. Ever since then, I have been a huge fan of anything wizard of oz. I collect everything i can get a hold of. I am a huge Judy Garland fan!
So naturally when I saw the idea of a wizard of oz enrichment, I HAD to do it! and it turned out AWESOME!!! never did i think it would turn out as good as it did. We decorated the RS room like Munchkin land and the cultral hall was decorated like the Emerald City. The entry before munchkin land wasin black and white in kansas. The sisters that we asked to be our characters/speakers went above and beyond!!! They bought their costumes and their talks were pefect!! We kind of had a little play script that they follwed, complete with music and all. The Scarecrow (Marsha Sanders) spoke on knowledge. Our tin man(Marlene Sparks) spoke on the heart of RS, our sisters. Our Lion (Kathy Hoeft) spoke on having courage. and they all helped Dorothy (Terrie Ferrin), learn the things she needed to learn to return "Home". They did such an amazing job! We even had some of our primary kids dress like munchkins and sing some of the munchkin songs.
It turned out so perfect! the pictures don't do it justice and i couldn't find all of the pictures. But i was so happy with how it turned out. I am lucky to have such an amazing enrichment commitee!
