Haileys Seizure

It all started monday morning......

Sunday night Hailey did not sleep well at all she woke up every hour whiny and thirsty and just not sleeping well. In the morning she woke up complaining of her stomach hurting and her head hurting. but fell asleep again fast. we thought she was just exauhasted. about 9 she woke up and threw up. she cried a little bit but fell right back asleep. about 10 min later she woke up again and threw up only this time i tried to talk to her and she was not responing at all. she was staring off into nowhere and i tried to talk to her...nothing. she started kinda mumbling. by then i was freaked out and called 911. the officer came and told me she was having a seizure. they did what they could and got her into the ambulance. They tested her blood sugar and it was only at 37. normal is 90-140.

This whole time she was still seizing. They took her to the hospital and she started shakeing and would not stop. aparently she had 3 back to back seizures. They decided to air vac her to Tucson Medical Center. Matt rode with her. I remebered last february and the longest ride ever and was not looking foward to it again. this time i was prepared and packed the things we needed for our stay in the hospital. By this time i was numb. Why? why again with my little girl? I was finally getting used to the asthma and ok with it and now seizures??? I was really scared!!

By the time i got to tucson she was starting to wake up from all the valume they had to give her to stop the seizures. They started doing blood work and a CT scan to try to figure out what had caused the seizures. the CT came back clean and her blood work just showed her low blood sugars and low sodium levels. They were still curious as to what really caused the seizures.

By this time my anxiety levels were crazy because I always expect the worse. but can you blame me really??
The biggest and last test was the MRI to check for any neurological problems or tumors. it wasnt until tuesday morning. I did not sleep AT ALL that night. I was worried what they were going to find. were we going to have to deal with these seizures on a regular basis? We have friends who have to deal with them and i know what they go through and it breaks my heart for them. Were we going to have to deal with the same thing? did she have a tumor? So many things were going through my mind.

Her MRI was clean!!! what a relief! it was nothing neurological and it wasn't a tumor thank goodness!

They figured it was caused by the lack of steroids. Hailey, for the last 3 months has been flaring up alot from her asthma and we have been having to give her prednisilone ALOT. she stoped that last friday. Her body had gotten so used to the steroids that it wasn't making its own. the adrenal glands were still asleep and not producing what they needed to . So they put her back on the prednisilone and her sugars and sodium levels were starting to level out and be normal. They figured that because she had been drinking so much water sunday night that she didn't have enough electrolites and couple that with the low blood sugar caused her seizures.

They don't know that for sure because there were alot of things to consider but they rulled everything else out that could have caused it. All the Doctors call her "Mystery Diagnosis" (that show on TLC).

So now we have to wein her off the steroids REALLY slow so her adrenal glands can start waking up and producing what her body needs.

Its wednesday and we were supposed to go home today but last night she started caughing and her oxygen level was starting to drop. Her asthma was flareing up. So they started treatments every 2 hours. They wanted to  make sure that they got that under control before they sent us home.

So we are still here in the hospital. But Hailey is doing ALOT better! shes happy and busy. and pretty much back to her normal joking self. She still has her caugh but we are taking care of it and her oxygen levels are where they should be again.

They say we are probably going home tomorrow!! yeah! im so sore from these hospital chairs we have to sleep on and not having a bathroom!! plus I miss Austin and Aubrey!

I am thankfull that Hailey is doing better. In a couple weeks we have to come back to tucson to do a couple more blood test and an EEG to see if she is at risk of having more seizures... But for now she is stable and doing well, so we are very gratefull for that.

Thank You all for your Prayers, Love, Support and willingness to help. We appreciate and love you all!!
And Especially thank you to my mom and dad who have had the kids and helped us out with everything we need! Thank You mom and Dad we Love you!

prednisolone is mean stuff. When Jadyn was on it she was at her max dose (180mg/day) for about 3 weeks then the wean took 7 more weeks of step downs. I am glad that she is doing so much better, I hope everything keeps going good and they don't find anything else in her EEG. She looks like such a sweet girl, such a blessing for you! You are in our prayers.

Prednisone is crazy stuff, I tell you! My husband had to go on it for a while, finally tapered off of it for about a month or two, then had to go back on. He's currently tapering again, so hopefully he won't have any more set backs!

I hope Hailey is doing better and hope the rest of you are holding up okay too! It's NO fun having loved ones in the hospital...you feel so helpless to do anything for them!

Awe! Poor Ms. Hailey! Gosh...that girl keeps you on your toes for sure-

The header is super easy! Just download some free digital scrapbooking kits, open up power point, customize your size to be however you want it, then drag and drop the pieces of the kit onto your powerpoint slide and you're golden. Just right click on the picture you're working with and select grouping and you can "bring it to front" etc.

Then when you're all finished and ready to save you just save it as a jpeg and upload it to your blog- I'm MORE than happy to help at all if you'd like.
