We were able to get a laptop in our room so I thought I would post an update.
This all started actually saturday morning. Hailey woke up breathing really heavy and fast. So we started giving her her treatments. we did every 2 hour to be agressive because she was breathing pretty rough. we did that all day long. normally by the the end of an agrassive treatment she is ALOT better but she wasn't. she was still working hard to breath and was weazing.
we decided to call the on call doctor to see what we should do. So Dr. Sue told us to take her to ER. She has asthma in her family so she is extra cautious. wich is very nice. So I took hailey in and 4 hours later they sent her home with cough medicine. I was sooo not happy because I knew that there was something wrong. and first of all you never give someone with asthma cough medicine. It just covers up the problem. Hailey was still weezing and I told the PA in the Er that she was still weezing and she told me she didn't know why she still was. FRUSTERATED I went home. I couldn't sleep! I kept checking on Hailey and we woke her up at about 4:30 am to give her a treatment. she was still breathing really hard. at about 10 am matt and i were talking and wondering what we shoud do. right then we got a call from Dr. Sue. she wasn't even on call anymore. she said she looked at haileys file from the Er and she wanted to see her herself. so she met us at her office and told us that we needed to admit her. her oxygen level was about 88-89 and normal is 90-100. plus her lungs sounded really bad.
so they started her on a higher dose of Predniselone. (can't spell) and treatments every 4 hours wich didn't last long. they bumped her to every 2 hours and had to turn up her oxygen. They actually turned off her monitor that monitored her oxygen level. why??? I don't know. a couploe hours passed and she wasn't getting better. I actually turned her monitor back on beacuse it was making me nervous not knowing what it was. I noticed she was working really hard to breath.
her level was about 89-90 but she was working really hard to maintain that level. she started to run a fever and her oxygen was dropping to 82-85 and they felt that the oxygen level they had her on was already high. So Dr. smith came in and decided that she needed to be airvaced to Tucson.
By this point I was really freaking out. at about 10 pm I just had this sick feeling and knew something was wrong. call it mothers intuition or whatever, and that was when I turned the monitor on and everything went down hill. So at 2 am they put her on the helicopter. only one of us could ride with her so matt did. I knew I couldn't handle being alone with her if something were to happen. Hailey was so scared. she was in the helicopter and i was standing right by her while they wer getting matt set up, and she would not let me go. she was saying "hop in mommy hop in, hold me." and i couldn't do anything to help make her feel better. I felt so helpless and I completely lost it when they flew away. My dad was there, thank goodness. He drove me to tucson. that was the logest ride of my life! I have never been so stressed and scared in my life. I felt nauseous and had anxiety. I truely felt like I was going to loose my little girl. I honestly felt that. I don't know if everything we went through with Ryan made me realize that anything can happen and I could loose her.
With Ryan, I felt peace from the very begining. I was having a hard time finding that same peace I had felt before. My faith was lacking and I knew it. I prayed and prayed. But I knew i was being selfish. I was only praying for her to be ok. I finally had to get to the point when I said thy will be done. just please help me to feel comfort and peace with whatever was going to happen. By this point I couldn't even think straight. and to make things worse, about a few hours after being at TMC they had a code blue on this little baby who had to only be a couple months old. I of course freaked out again.
It was very comforting knowing that she had a specialist taking care of her. There were 4 different doctors deciding what was best. there wasn't even a question of what they needed to do. and in safford there was alot of the unknown. Hailey was not getting better though.
They started to get worried and moved her into ICU. They put her on a continuous treatment of albeuterol. and they bumped up her oxygen really high. She was not doing well. They started the continuos treatment monday at about 2 pm and they finally took her off the continuous treatment at about noon on tuesday. They then went to treatments every hour. wich was working. her oxygen was still set pretty high. after a few hours they bumped her to treatments every 2 hours. that was probabaly at about 6 pm.
They have slowly been turning down her oxygen. at 3 am this morning they came into our room and told us that wey were moving her out of ICU. They would have kept her there a little longer but they needed the room and felt that she was doing well enough to move her to the floor. so it's noon on wednesday, wich i actually had to ask someone what day it was. when you don't get any sleep, the nights and days just sorta blend all together.
As of right now they have her completly off oxygen and she is maintaining a good oxygen level. we'll see when she falls asleep though. they have been having to turn her oxygen up when she sleeps. but that is expected. so we'll see what happens. she is still on steroids and treatments every 2 hours but in a couple hours they are going to try to move her to every 3 hours.
In order to leave, she has to completely be off of oxygen, and treatments evey 4 hours. So we still have a little ways to go. If everything keeps going like it has, we will probably be here till friday or saturday. we are praying for friday!!!
So Hailey is getting better, slowly, but thats better than getting worse, wich she did do for the first day and a half. so I'm happy with that!
I'll try to post her progress tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers!

Seriously that hospital has a problem! They didn't know what to do with kaybri once! But I'm glad that Hailey is doing better. You had every right to freak out and I admire how you were able to see right away what you needed to do, pray and then pray harder... Poor little girl, well you guys are awesome parents, just hang in there we'll be praying for Friday :)

How scary! I'm so glad that they got everything under controll! I totally felt your frustration with the doctors! It's a good thing for that mothers intuition! I hope that you are able to come home soon! Seriously let me know if I can help watch your kids or anything! 651-2929
Thank goodness she is doing better! Having you tell about her going on the helicopter brought back all too familiar memories and crazy emotions. I'm glad the doctors over there have been able to help her, but hopefully you get to leave soon!
Miss Sarah! My word. Your poor baby. That is so scary. What is weird is I was thinking about you last week feeling like I really needed to call you and as you know I didn't. :( Lame. I hope that Hailey gets better soon. Hang in there you are such a great mom.
Oh Honey. I just read your post and bawled like a baby. It is very similar with what my son Cohen went through last year...minus the helicopter ride, but I feel your pain and am so so SOOOOOOO glad that she is getting better. You guys are in my prayers.
Sarah! When are you going to get a break? Hospitals are the worst... especially when your baby is in there. We did something similar last year.. but not ICU or Tucson. So so sorry for all you are going through. I had no idea! you know I would do anything to help, please ask! I am going to bring you dinner when you get home! We will say lots of prayers for your family.. especially Hailey! Love ya
