This is going to be the short version, and I thought I better post about this now because Aubrey talks alot, bless her little heart. Well a couple weeks ago I took a blood test so they could screen for any abnormalities on the baby. well they came back posotive. The doctor told us not to worry to much because alot of times these tests come back as a false positive. So naturally I was a little worried but tried not to be. They wanted a specialest at my Ultrasound just to make sure. So a couple days ago I had my ultrasound and it was not good at at all. Our baby has Anencephaly, wich means that the babys brain has stopped developing and won't be able to live after birth. The Specialist (not LDS), told us that we needed to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible. Thank goodness that matt was there with me, but so was aubrey. she didn't know really everything but she knew that the baby was not doing good. I had a hard time hearing that. But at the same time, both MAtt and I were very comforted. Its a feeling that cannot be explained. They wanted us to go straight to see my doctor but I couln't. I had aubreys birthday starting in 20 min that I had to get home for. Try throwing a party for 12 little kids after news like that. I had hardly no time to process anything. Matt and I had alot of questions and concerns moraly and Ethicly. Does the baby get a name? what happens to the baby because at this point I would have to go through labor and everything. There were so many unanswered questions that we had. later that evening matt called Dr. Christensen, our normal doctor, and close friend to ask him some of these question that we had. He actually called our stake President who also happens to be a doctor and He and our Bishop came right over. We talked with them for about and Hour. And The Stake President read us what the church handbook says about abortion, because this would fall under that category. But there are also exeptions that the church makes and our case fell under those exeptions also. He ultimatly told us that It was a decission to be made between us and the Lord, with counseling from our Bishop. And he said that no matter what you do, there will be people who don't agree with your decisssion. And He said that that was ok. But ultimatly it was our decission. Obviously there was alot more to our conversation, but thats the short version. They gave Matt a blessing and Matt gave me one and the whole experience was amazing and spiritual that words can't even describe. After much Prayer, Matt and I decided that I am going to carry this baby Full term. The babys Heart is strong and It will continue to grow but the brain will not. I have felt the baby move and we know that this is our little baby still growing. There is a chance that the baby will live for a couple hours or in some cases a couple days. We just don't know for sure. But our babys spirit will recive a body and even if we have a chance to Hold, and be with our baby for a short time here on earth it will be worth it. We know that we will be able to raise our baby again. We feel very blessed right now and very humbled. We just want everyone to know that we are ok. We REALLY ARE, The Lord has Comforted us. I always thought that if this ever happend to me, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Loosing a baby just seemed to me, to unbearable. But now that it is happening to us, I know I can handle it, and both Matt and I Fell it is going to be an amazing experience that with strengthen us and our Family. Granted, I know it will be hard but the Lord always Blesses us and Gives us strength through our toughest Trials. I just feel blessed that we have time to prepare ouselves for when our baby comes. We feel very strongly about our decission, and know that this is the right decission for us and our family. The last few days have been rough and alot of tears shed but we are doing well and the Lord has blessed us in so many ways. Thank you to all who have been praying for us. We Love You and are gratefull for your Love and Support.

Wow, Sarah. I don't even know what to say! I have tears streaming down my face because, I cannot even being to imagine having to go through this. But, you and Matt are so strong and AMAZING examples. Your faith shines through in this post!!
This is my biggest fear when having kids and your courage gives me hope that if I were to ever have to deal with it - I would be able to.
You're amazing and I admire your strength!!!
Much love to YOU and your family.
I'm so sorry to hear all that. It's amazing what prayer can do for us. I can't imagine what you and Matt are going through right now. Your family will be in our prayers.
I have a friend who went through this a year ago. Her baby ended up being still born, but they got to hold their son and felt so much peace with the situation. The baby was too perfect to be on the Earth at this time and your baby will be waiting for you guys also.
Sarah I just want you and Matt to know that I totally look up to and respect you both in this decision. What a hard process to go through. I know that one day if this baby does make if full term and is only alive for seconds it will be waiting for you and just so greatful you gave it the chance it deserves. I pray that you will have strength to get through these next months! We love ya,
Amy
Sarah, my heart goes out to you and your family. You will be in our prayers too. Heavenly Father must feel you are so special to be able to handle this trial. He will bless you in your faith and you become even stronger than you are now. Love you! Vanessa
What a strength and inspiration you are. I am so glad you are doing okay and that you have been comforted through this difficult time. I can't even imagine. Leaving it all in Heavenly Father's hands is surely a comfort though. You will be in my prayers and you are awesome.
e-mail me at azsilvergirl @ yahoo.com if you want to keep reading my blog--i went private:)
I am so sorry! I don't even know what to say. I knew someone a long time ago that had a child with the same condition. They also chose to go full-term. They were able to hold their baby for a few hours after she was born and that was the most precious time for them. Make sure to take lots of pictures-you will really treasure them later! I'm sorry you have to go through this trial. It's a trial I have always feared. It will make you stronger and will allow you to help others in the future. I am glad that you are able to find peace in the middle of your trials. We love you and our hearts go out to you and your sweet family!

Oh Sweet Sarah.....I'm so so sorry. You sound like a pillar of strength. It's amazing to me what we can over come if we have to and if the lord is on our side. You and your family are in our prayers. Hang in there.
Oh Sarah my heart is breaking right now for you and Matt. I'm so sorry. You and Matt are truely amazing people and are so strong. What a lucky child to have such wonderful parents. I will be praying day and night for you and your family. Do you need any anything or if you ever want to call me and cry i will always be there for you.
Lots of love,
Marti
Oh Sarah, as I sit here and cry my eyes out for you I just draw so much strength from your love of the gospel. You and Matt are such great examples. I can't even imagine the heartbreak that did and will take place, but after reading Steven and Kami Palmer's story about their sweet baby (GREAT people to talk to- Deanne Layton's brother), it amazes me what parents can handle with an eternal perspective. I really admire you both for keeping the faith! I also wanted to mention this article, that may help with some things once the baby does come: http://www.examiner.com/x-8643-Phoenix-Early-Childhood-Parenting-Examiner~y2009m5d1-Top-10-Mothers-Day-must-haves-Grandmothers-Lullaby-Loft
Please let me know if I can go there and get anything for you.
I'm sending you all my love and prayers!
You guys are amazing and it sounds like you made the best decision for your family. We'll keep you guys in our prayers and want to send big hugs your way!!!
I am so sorry Sarah. We will keep you guys in our prayers. You are amazing and so strong. Please let me know if I can help you in any way. We are sending our love and thoughts your way...
Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry. There are no words.
I highly recommend contacting a photographer from www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/
who can come take pictures of your precious little one after birth so you have those. It's free, I believe and I've had other friends who have lost babies and have been glad they did it. I am so glad you have been able to draw strength from the gospel.
Again, I am so sorry and wish you the best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and delivery.
Sarah, me and Jarom are broken-hearted for you. We'll be praying for your comfort. I agree completely with one of your other comments; I never thought I could handle something like this but your strength is inspiring and makes me even more grateful for the gospel. That precious baby will get a body and you'll be able to raise your little child someday. We are so so sorry.
Sarah, Heather sent me the link to your blog. I am so sorry to hear that you are having to go through this trial. You will be given the strength you need. I know this. Your whole family was always an inspiration to me. I love your Mom and Dad. Please say HI to them for us. We love you and will surely keep you in our prayers.
Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I admire your faith and courage. My prayers will be with you. Love you!
Sarah, I'm bawling my eyes out right now. I'm soo sorry and even more incredibly amazed at your stregnth and faith and the decision you've made. I agree 100% with it. We were told by 3 doctors to abort my first (Jaden's) pregnancy. It was such a hard decision, but obviously I'm so glad we carried him.
I'm sure this with stregnthen you all as a family, couple and you as an invidividual, but I am so sorry you have such a hard trial. We'll defaitnely keep you guys in our prayers!
That is such sad news...I'm so sorry for your family, but I'm glad you guys have such a great perspective on the whole situation.
Hopefully you're not sick of other peoples' stories yet...if so, stop reading now. :) My sister Mindy had a similar thing happen with her 2nd child, a boy. His lungs weren't developing, along with some other abnormalities (which they knew ahead of time), but they chose to carry him full term as well. He was able to take a few breaths after he was born and we were all able to hold him for a bit.
You're so strong and amazing!
I just not heard! I came straight home to check your blog.. I don't know what took so long to hear. Hanna actually mentioned that Aubrey told her the baby would die, but I didn't believe her. I am amazed at you! I want to give you a big hug and would do anything to take away your pain. I am so sorry for all you are having to go through and admire your decision so much! We have learned alot from our experience with my brother's baby and I know that spirit is just too perfect to have to come to earth and be tested! We will pray for your family! Love ya
wow, Sarah, I'm sorry. I can't imagine what this has put you through, but it's made me cry just reading it. I will keep you and that baby in my prayers.

Oh, and talk to me before you get your ac unit. I've learned of good rebate programs.
We are praying for you sweet Pace family. We have experienced what the prayers of many can do for a family during a trial. It's a powerful thing. Thank you for allowing so many to know to pray for you. Prayers and your faith is what will give you the strength you need to get through this. God bless your sweet family. What a lucky little spirit to have you as a family.
We will be praying for you too! I know that the power of prayer is an amazing thing. Your family is so sweet and strong. The Lord lifts us and blesses us with strength and understanding in our time of need. He will be with you now, and when your little one comes. We love you guys, and know that you little one picked a wonderful family to belong to forever!
My sweet Sarah. As I was reading your experience I was so inspired by your strength and I am always humbled when the Lord gives you the strength that you need to handle the trials He give us. It just shows that He really does know us as individuals and I know He will bless you for this and what an amazing example you are for your children. I wish I was with you to be able to give you a huge hug. I love you dearly and I will be praying for you and this perfect little angel.
Sarah...I don't know if you remember Krista Flake from high school, but she was in thissiuation too. I wanted to share thisblog with you and maybe you can contact her if you feel like talking to someone who has gone through what you are doing. Take care! Love you. http://www.onetinymiracle.blogspot.com/
Sarah - You CAN do this and I promise you that if you keep this outlook you will be soooo greatly blessed. I know a family in Pima who went thru this. They lost a son. They were able to hold him and take pictures and have one of the most spiritual experiences ever. Yes, they would rather have had a "quote" normal child. How ever they also considered them selves blessed that the lord would think enough of them that they could handle it. If you would like her number to talk to her, let me know. I love you and am but a phone call away. Be Strong!
